About Founder & Instructor Colleen Mannion
Colleen Mannion is a dedicated educator and communication specialist with over 40 years of experience in special education in both the United States and Ireland. Throughout her career, she has focused on supporting autistic individuals and those with complex communication needs.
With a deep commitment to alternative and augmentative communication, Colleen has spent years working with stencils, letterboards, voice supports, and communication devices. Her approach centers on presuming competence, honoring each person’s unique strengths, and creating reliable pathways for authentic expression.
After an extensive career in schools and educational programs, Colleen chose to retire early in order to fully dedicate herself to bringing a voice to as many autistic individuals as possible. Her work is grounded in respect, patience, and the belief that meaningful communication can transform lives.
Colleen’s mission is to empower families and loved ones to connect on a deeper level, opening the door to real conversations, shared decisions, and stronger relationships. By offering guidance, training, and practical tools, she helps families build communication systems that work in everyday life.
With a vision that extends far beyond local communities, Colleen is committed to bringing this work to a global level. Her goal is to make effective alternative communication accessible worldwide, so that autistic individuals everywhere have the opportunity to be heard, understood, and fully included.
